The Stulberg International String Competition and Fontana Chamber Arts are delighted to welcome Amit Peled, cello (2022 Stulberg Competition Judge) for a community master class on Saturday, June 7th, 2025. Amit Peled will be working with student cellists performing solo or with a professional collaborative pianist.

Eligibility

  • The Amit Peled Master Class is open to cello students performing unaccompanied solo Bach (or repertoire written without accompaniment) and intermediate-advanced repertoire for piano/cello duo.
  • Applicants must be under the age of 20 as of January 1st, 2025.
  • If selected to participate, the applicant must be in Kalamazoo, Michigan on Saturday, June 7th. The Stulberg will not make arrangements for travel/lodging for master class participants.

Master Class Details

  • Eligible cello students are asked to apply and submit an audition video to determine participation in the master class.
  • Applications will be reviewed internally and 5 applicants will be selected.
  • Selected applicants will be notified and assigned a 30-minute time slot between 9 A.M. – 12 P.M. on Saturday, June 7th, 2025.
  • Selected applicants will participate in the master class at LOCATION TBA, during their assigned time slot.
  • Participants must provide their own professional collaborative pianist if performing works with piano accompaniment. Applicants may audition with a student pianist if desired.

Application Guidelines

  • Master Class applicants must perform with piano accompaniment, unless it is a solo work without accompaniment such as solo Bach for cello.
  • Those selected to perform in the Master Classes must perform the same work as performed in the audition.
  • Works composed with accompaniment should include accompaniment in the application video.
  • Pieces do not need to be performed from memory.
  • It is recommended that applicants are at a minimum in Suzuki Book 5 (or comparable) or beyond.

Amit Peled, cello

Internationally renowned cellist, conductor and pedagogue Amit Peled is acclaimed as one of the most exciting and virtuosic instrumentalists on the concert stage today. Having performed in many of the world’s most prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall at the Lincoln Center in New York, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C., Salle Gaveau in Paris, Wigmore Hall in London, Seoul Arts Center in Korea and the Konzerthaus Berlin, Germany.

Peled has released over a dozen recordings on the Naxos, Centaur, Delos, and CTM Classics labels.

He is a cello professor at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, and has performed in and presented master classes around the world, including at the Marlboro and Newport Music Festivals and the Heifetz International Music Summer Institute in the US, the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival in Germany, International Musicians Seminar Prussia Cove in England, and Keshet Eilon in Israel.

Embracing the new online era, Peled has established the Amit Peled Online Cello Academy reaching out to hundreds of cellists all over the world.

Peled is the Founder and Artistic Director of the Mount Vernon Virtuosi, former Music Director of CityMusic Cleveland and enjoys a growing international conducting career with orchestras all across the globe.

He is represented worldwide by CTM Classics.
