Stulberg International String Competition’s Accessibility, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Policy
Accessibility: Accessibility and inclusion are especially important for the Stulberg Executive Director and Board of Directors as activities and performances are planned. All venues used by the Stulberg are ADA compliant. Admission to events is kept affordable. Online events are a “pay what you want” system; allowing patrons to pay $0 or donate in an amount they feel comfortable. Online events are especially accessible to communities outside of Michigan, or community members who may prefer to watch from home.
Welcoming Environment: The Stulberg International String Competition is committed to having a diverse population in all aspects of operation. It is vital to the health of the organization and mission, and our connection to our community to represent all ages, genders, races, ethnicities, and persons of disabilities.
Diversity: The Stulberg commits to increasing diversity, which is expressed in myriad forms, including race and ethnicity, gender and gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, language, culture, national origin, religious commitments, age, (dis)ability status, political perspective and veteran status.
Equity: The Stulberg commits to cultural equity, which embodies the values, beliefs, policies and practices that all people are represented in the development of arts policy, support of artists, nurturing of accessible, thriving venues for expression and the fair distribution of programmatic, financial and informational resources. This includes specific commitment to people who have been historically underrepresented based on race/ethnicity, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, socioeconomic status, geography, citizenship status or religion.
Inclusion: The Stulberg is committed to pursuing deliberate efforts to ensure that the Competition is a place where differences are welcomed, different perspectives are respectfully heard and where every individual feels a sense of belonging and inclusion.
The Stulberg actively works to build an inclusive culture that celebrates diversity and equity. The Stulberg strives to engage diverse communities when selecting Judges, educators, and board members.
