
Laurentia Woo is a 17-year old violinist currently studying under Professors Itzhak Perlman and Areta Zhulla in the Juilliard School’s Pre-College division and Perlman Music Program. She is also mentored by Stella Chen and Jun Cho. She was recently nominated as a Kovner Fellow to further studies at the Juilliard School. Previously, she studied at the Colburn School with Robert Lipsett and began her musical journey at age four at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts under Michael Ma.
At 12, Laurentia made her debut with the Salzburg Chamber Soloists and has since performed with the National Philharmonic, Vancouver Symphony, Juilliard Pre-College Orchestra, and Pannon Philharmonic. A 2019 1st Prize winner at the Zhuhai International Mozart Competition, she later became the youngest 1st Prize and Best Performance of a Commissioned Piece winner of the 2022 Johansen International Competition.
In addition to her solo pursuits, Laurentia has long been passionate about chamber music and humanitarian efforts. Laurentia has been involved in the Doremi Project since 2020, where she teaches children in underserved communities, aiming to enrich their lives through the power of music. In 2023, she established the Sylvan Quartet alongside fellow students from Juilliard Pre-College. Together, they perform at rehabilitation centers, spreading joy and hope through their music. Their endeavors led to them sharing their mission and music on NPR’s “From The Top.”
Laurentia is a recipient of the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund Scholarship and the Davidson Fellows Scholarship for Clexical, her platform dedicated to democratizing contemporary classical music. Passionate about expanding the reach of contemporary music, she strives to enhance accessibility for broader audiences.
