Daniel Yoonsuh Lee is a 15-year-old cellist and Sophomore at Special Music School High School in New York. A student of Natasha Brofsky at Juilliard Pre-College, Daniel previously studied with Yari Bond and Jennifer Park.

Daniel made his solo orchestral debut at age 12 as a winner of the Kaufman Music Center Concerto Competition, performing Haydn Cello Concerto in C Major at Merkin Concert Hall. At 13, he was featured as soloist in a recording of the Saint-Saëns Cello Concerto in A Minor with Ensemble 212 as First Prize Winner of the Ensemble 212 Young Artist Competition at DiMenna Center. At 14, he made his Carnegie Weill Recital Hall debut as First Prize winner of the Musical Life Competition, performing Shostakovich Cello Concerto No. 1, a work he also performed that year as a winner of the Special Music School Concerto Competition with the Park Avenue Chamber Symphony at Merkin Concert Hall.

Daniel’s competition honors include Gold Medal winner of the Bravura Young Artist Competition, First Prize in the International Grande Music Competition, First Prize in the Vivo International Music Competition, First Prize in the London Classical Music Competition, and Finalist at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Annual Young Musicians Concert. He has been featured in master classes with Blaise Déjardin, Clara Kim, David Ying, Jonathan Biss, Amit Peled, and the Galvin Cello Quartet.

This summer, Daniel will study with Hans Jørgen Jensen at Meadowmount School of Music. Last summer, he served as Principal Cellist of the Young Artist Orchestra at Boston University Tanglewood Institute, and previously attended Bowdoin International Music Festival as a student of Paul Katz.
