Ray Gu is a 15-year-old cellist currently studying at the Colburn School Academy in Los Angeles, where he studies with Clive Greensmith.

He was awarded the Grand Prize at the Pasadena Showcase House Instrumental Competition, where he was among the youngest recipients of this distinction. He is also a First Prize winner of the American String Teachers Association (ASTA) California Chapter Solo Competition. In addition, he has received top prizes in several national and international competitions, including the Global Genius Music Competition, American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competition, Crescendo International Music Competition, and the Qingdao International Cello Festival Competition.

His repertoire includes major works such as Haydn’s Cello Concerto in D Major, Lalo’s Cello Concerto in D minor, and Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations, as well as solo and chamber works by Bach, Beethoven, and Shostakovich.

In addition to solo performance, he is an active chamber musician and orchestral player at Colburn. He is dedicated to developing both his musical expression and technical artistry.
